[Quebec] Le Pied de Cochon

Review Location:
248 Montcalm Street
Gatineau (Haul areal), Quebec

As part of my Victoria day weekend in Ottawa, one of the nights we ventured to Quebec for a nice french meal. Curtis who had brought us here had never been here before, so I definitely didn't know what to expect. The restaurant is pretty small, and walking by on the street I might not even notice it.

First walking in to the restaurant, we were greeted with two bilingual servers. As we would soon figure out, these two would be the only people serving the entire restaurant that night.

[Ottawa] Shawarma Palace

Review Location:
464 Rideau Street
Ottawa, Ontario

This place was actually the very first place we ate at as soon as we made it to Ottawa. I was almost not going to post this review because I wasn't able to take very good pictures, but decided that it was quite good and was worth sharing.

Curtis, who is the Ottawa expert, told us that Ottawa has some of the best shwarma because the town is highly populated with Lebanese people. This was something I wasn't initially aware of. I guess now I know.

Huong's Vietnamese Bistro

Review Location:
343 Booth Street
Ottawa, Ontario

For the first lunch after going to Ottawa, we went to have Vietnamese food. Our friend Curtis always raves that Ottawa has the best pho, so I think it was necessary to try it out. Lucky for us, this restaurant is owned by the brother of Curtis's half-Vietnamese girlfriend,  so we probably got some pretty authentic Vietnamese food!

Ottawa Tulip Festival

Location Review:
35 O'Connor Street
Ottawa, Ontario
(Near Parliment Hill)

So this weekend I headed to Ottawa to spend the big Victoria day weekend, and aside from doing lots of sight seeing, I also did alot of eating! in fact I probably did more eating than sight seeing. I contemplated doing an entry similar to the Toronto eating tour one, but realized it would be too much for one post. So I'll try to break it down by day, or as logical as possible.

One of the biggest reasons people come to ottawa for the May 2-4 weekend, is to attend the Tulip festival. During this weekend, the park displays over 50 types of tulips spanned over several large parks. This festival commemorates the bond that is shared between (what was then known as) Holland and Canada. Back in the second world war,

Ye's Sushi

Location Review:
583 King Street North
Waterloo, Ontario
(Major Intersection: King St. N, Northfield Dr. W)

The other day I was in Waterloo doing some recruiting for my company, and the one day trip there just brought back so many memories...including food! As a result, I have decided to make some tribute posts to some of the food I've had there throughout my university career....starting with the best of the best: sushi! =)

Kim Po Vietnamese Restaurant

Review Location:
550 Hwy 7 E
Unit 6162A (Times Square)
Richmond Hill, Ontario
(Major Intersection: Leslie & Hwy 7)

The other day I cam here for dinner with some of my friends. I've been here once before a couple years ago, and the place definitely cleaned up both in decor since my last visit. Everything looks much cleaner and more like a restaurant. The one thing they didn't bother to renovate was probably the washroom. Gross and neglected like most Asian places. Luckily, the food got better since I last came too. Out of the 6 of us that went, half of us ordered vermicelli and half of us ordered pho.

Phoenix Restaurant

Review Location:
8190 Bayview Avenue
Thornhill, Ontario
(Major Intersection: Langstaff Rd. & Bayview Ave)

So it's been a while since I posted, but its partially because I've been sick! I'll try to make up for it, starting with this one! The other day I came to this Phoenix for dinner. I' believe this location is a branch of the one near woodbine and Steeles, but the sign on the outside sure was similar. The inside was really really pretty. It had a red glowing ceiling with butterflies, and a some other decorations on the wall that made it seem like some sort of enchanted forest. I couldn't resist and took a picture (while people stared at me..). We ended up ordering 3 dishes.

HiPot Hot Pot

Review Location:
350 Highway 7 East, Unit 105
Richmond Hill, Ontario
(Major Intersection: Valleymede Dr. & Hwy 7)

For mother's day this year, we decided to go have all you can eat hot pot for dinner. Unconventional yes, but for whatever reason my family just has a soft spot for hot pot! This was the first time I've been to this place, and was pleasantly surprised right when I walked in. Usually when I think AYCE hot pot, I picture a really unorganized, crowded, and busy restaurant with poor quality food and sticky table tops. But this was nothing like what I listed. The place was very spacious and clean. We were all very comfortably seated, and there was ample space on the table for all the plates that would come.

Mill Street Brewery Pub

Review Location:
55 Mill Street, Building 63
Toronto, Ontario
(Major Intersection: Lakeshore Bvld E & Cherry St.)

My family and I were in the Distillery District the other day and despite raining we had a pretty good time. Kind of sucks that everything except the restaurants close at 5pm on the weekends. Because of that we ended up having an early dinner. Since it was my parent's first time at the Distillery, I felt it would be appropriate to eat at the brewery!

[Markham] Fancy Chinese Cuisine (李嘉誠)

Review location:
7750 Kennedy Road
Markham, Ontario
(Major Intersection: 14th Ave. & Kennedy Rd.)

First off, I would like to commend this restaurant for their English name selection. I would then also like to commend this place more on their Chinese name selection, which is essentially named after the wealthiest business man in all of Asia. Not that it has anything to do with anything, just point it out.

Eating Tour of Toronto

Location Review:
All Around Toronto!

Today's post will be a special one, because it'll from a couple places instead of just one!

This past weekend, my cousin Vincent from out of town came to Toronto, so my sister Amy and I decided to take him around to see the city. He'd already been to most of the bigger attractions in the city, so we were stumped on where to show him. Luckily, all three of us love eating, so it ended up being a huge eating tour! Of course we stopped by any parks, shops, and markets that we stumbled upon too. It's really crazy how both my sister and I have been in Toronto for over ten years, and we still ended up seeing and experiencing new things in Toronto for the first time.
